About Lauren

A practitioner who truly gets it

I'm a Somatic Wellness Practitioner, Qigong teacher, educator, and founder of Berkana Somatic Wellness in Okotoks, Alberta. My work weaves together somatic movement, nervous system science, trauma-informed care, and neurodivergence-affirming practice to support real people in real-life circumstances.

As a mother of neurodivergent children and a neurodivergent person myself, I understand both the science and the daily reality of family life that doesn't fit into neat categories. I know the exhaustion of constant explaining and advocating, the worry about "doing enough," and the search for strategies that actually work in homes, classrooms, and workplaces.

Who I'm especially here for

Neurodivergent adults who are tired of feeling "too much" or "not enough"

Parents and caregivers navigating complex family nervous systems

Practitioners and helpers who hold a lot for others and need a place to land themselves

Whether you're brand new to somatic work or have been "doing the work" for years, you're welcome exactly as you are — overwhelmed, curious, skeptical, hopeful, or all of the above.

How I work

My approach is slow, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your nervous system. I don't force calm, bypass your experience, or expect you to fit into a rigid practice. Instead, we listen to your body's signals, explore gentle somatic practices, and look for small, doable changes that actually fit into your life.

Beyond credentials, I bring the deep knowing that comes from walking this path myself. I understand what it's like to feel disconnected, overwhelmed, and like you're failing the people you love most — and I also know the profound relief that comes from learning you don't have to carry it all alone.

What it's like to work together

Clients often describe my presence as steady, non-judgmental, and gently honest. I'm not here to fix you or tell you who to be. I'm here to support your system in remembering its own ways of orienting toward more capacity, connection, and self-trust.

We'll move at a pace that feels safe enough, honoring your nervous system, your story, and your reality. You don't have to show up any particular way to be welcomed here.
